Happy Chinese New Year!!!

We went to a Chinese New Year's Party on Friday night and had a ton of fun. There were 6 couples, no kids :) and we ordered Chinese food ... how can it get better. The best were the homemade deep-fried wontons made by the hostess with the mostess, Emily Leavitt. They were so yummy.
I made my cake for February - it was box cake, but the decorating was my challenge :) Since we were celebrating the Year of the Rat, that was the theme of my cake.

For fun, we played a game called "Crazy Rook". So for those of you familiar with Rook, you use the same cards, but it is different in many other ways. There are 3 tables (a loser table, a middle table and a head or winner table). Each person gets their own score sheet and each hand has different rules, like playing "Rock, Scissors, Paper" for trump OR pick three cards from your neighbours hand before you start play OR deal and play straight from the table (like war, you don't look at them you just play them as they come up). You move tables if you win and you change partners each round. Sounds complicated, but very fun :)

We had a great time and it was nice to get out :) Thanks to the Leavitt's for organising it!!!

Love the cake, it turned out fantastic!!

Of course, I'll NEVER forget our telephone conversation where it was suddenly decided that we'd shave heads at the same time THEN the conversation after. Unforgettable moments!!
